Soundiron Olympus Micro Choir Gets An Upgrade

Major v2.0 redesign doubles the content and expands the feature range

Soundiron has announced the brand new 2.0 upgrade for their Olympus Micro Choir. Here's the details in their own words...

This major redesign doubles the content and vastly expands the feature range of this light-weight and effective little instrument. We've added a ton of new cutting edge UI features and capabilities, along with the new fast Russian Slavonic poly-sustain 'Raduisya' to go along with original slow Latin 'Dominum', both with optional tempo-synching for Kontakt 5. We've also added easy-to-use smooth 'Ah' ff and 'Oo' pp vowel sustain options and a new 'Ah' and 'Oo' short Staccato preset.

We've rolled in tons of great new GUI features from our more powerful flagship choir libraries, including dual-ensemble layering with independent controls that allow you to seamlessly blend between the different vowels and poly-sustains on the fly. The standard swell, attack, offset, release and release sample volume controls are there, but now you can stack two section layers together or smoothly cross-fade between them, customize their key ranges and freely sculpt performance settings on the fly.

We've also enhanced the legato system with smoother gliding and independent voicing for each divisi section, with phrase-synchronous legato for the poly-sustains and smoother gliss-style legato for the vowel sustains. You have control over speed, bend intensity and range. There's now also a 3-band EQ with sweepable mid and an integrated convolution reverb engine with 10 special FX impulse options and 10 classic acoustic spaces to choose from.

The full master preset includes all poly-sustains and vowel sustains for both men and women in one unified interface, with customizable key range and performance controls for each section. The more focused Divisi men and women presets allow dual-voice melodic legato and cross-vowel morphing for bigger, more precise arrangements. We've streamlined the library and packed more power into every instrument to cut down the clutter and make them easier to navigate and use. You'll also find brand new special atmospheric presets that take the choir in new creative directions, with custom FX control for each one tied to the modwheel.

The new 207MB Olympus Micro v2.0 includes 140 Samples, with 24 feature-packed nki presets (12 K4 & 12 K5).

We're also holding an official demo contest for Olympus Micro! The creators of the two best tracks that show off all of the new content and features in Olympus Micro 2.0 will be awarded their choice of either a copy of our Mercury Symphonic Boy's Choir or a copy of our full Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection with Mars and Venus together! Just send us an mp3 by email or Soundcloud link of your submission by March 8th, 2013. We'll select the two best tracks that we feel go the deepest into Olympus Micro's new content and capabilities and announce the two winners by March 15th.

Please note: This library requires the full version of Kontakt 4.2.4 or later. Kontakt 5.0.3 or later is required for tempo-synching presets. Sorry, the free Kontakt Player and special Libraries tab do not support Olympus Micro. Click Here for full tech info. Existing owners of the smaller original 1.0 version of Olympus Micro are eligible for a discount on the v2 upgrade or a free v1.5 update for the original included content. Owners of the full Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection can also request a free copy of Olympus Micro v2.0. Just reply to this email if you have any questions.

Pricing and Availability:
The new 207MB Olympus Micro v2.0 is available to download now for $19.99. It's also available with the Micropaks Collection, on DVD & download for just $49.

New Instrument Inspired By The Roland JX-3P

UVI introduces UVX-3P

UVI tells us that their new UVX-3P was developed with the same care and thoroughness as their other Vintage series instruments. A JX-3P was fully restored to factory spec, programmed by members of their sound design team and deeply multi-sampled, capturing samples both dry and with the built-in analog chorus enabled. They say that great care was taken to capture a wide range of the sonic capabilities of this synth, giving you 160+ presets in all.

Compatibility

With the free UVI Workstation 2.0.9 (required version), UVX-3P can work:

  • as a stand-alone instrument, compatible with Mac & PC
  • as a VST, AudioUnit, RTAS and MAS plug-in.

With MachFive 3 – make the most of all editing features included.

About the JX-3P

In 1983, Roland introduced one of the first affordable analog synths, the JX-3P. The JX-3P signaled a shift away from control dense synths like the JUNO and JUPITER series for a less intimidating, more entry-level aesthetic aimed at players who wanted the Roland sound without being distracted by a slew of controls.

That said the JX-3P was in no way technically inferior, offering many of the same components as its more expensive siblings‚ it even boasted dual DCO's per-voice compared to a single in the JUNO series making it somewhat of a sleeper powerhouse.
Not as pervasive as the JUNO series, the JX-3P was still a very capable and expressive instrument used by many well known pop acts such as Stevie Nicks, Vince Clark and The Cure as well as electronica pioneers Orbital and The Future Sound of London.

UVX-3P was developed with the same care and thoroughness as our other Vintage series instruments. A JX-3P was fully restored to factory spec, programmed by members of our sound design team and deeply multi-sampled, capturing samples both dry and with the built-in analog chorus enabled. Great care was taken to capture a wide range of the sonic capabilities of this synth, giving you 160+ presets in all.
