Klanghelm: SDRR - The saturation chameleon

Introducing SDRR

SDRR was build to satisfy almost all of your saturation desires. It provides a comprehensive set of controls to manipulate the
character of the saturation to make it fit exactly. SDRR offers four different main modes: TUBE, DIGI, FUZZ, DESK and reacts
dynamically to the input signal. Each mode has it's unique crosstalk behaviour, which can be switched of or exagerrated. A
unique RMS level difference metering mode makes level matching an easy task.

SDRR can be different things: a saturation, a compressor, an EQ, a bitcrusher, a subtle stereo widener, or simply add some
movement to your tracks with the DRIFT control. Add warmth, depth and character to your tracks with SDRR.

Don't forget to check out the free IVGI, which can be seen as the little brother of SDRR. It is based on the DESK mode in
SDRR. Since IVGI is comparable to SDRR qualitywise, CPU-consumption wise and regarding aliasing (or better the absence of
aliasing artifacts), it's a good way to also get an impression of how SDRR would perform on your system.

SDRR is available in the following formats (all included in one single license):
Windows: VST (32&64Bit), VST3 (32&64Bit), RTAS
Mac OSX: AU (32&64Bit), VST (32&64Bit), VST3 (32&64Bit), RTAS

The four modes in SDRR:

The TUBE mode consists of two different models of a 2 stage tube preamplifier. These two models can be blended into eachother with the
CHARACTER control. WARM focusses more on the transient smoothing and compressing character accociated with tubes, while SIZZLE
captures the harmonics generated, when driving the preamp without affecting the transients too much.

The DIGI mode: designed to precisely add even and/or odd harmonics to program material. Gives a very controlled sound. Again two models
were created, which can be blended. The first one only generated the first 4 harmonics. DIGI is great for adding harmonics and excitement to
yout tracks without colouring the signal too much and might act as a proof, that digital saturation can sound pleasent.
Use the BIT->RATE control for bitcrushing/samplerate reduction effects. Combined with the DRIFT parameter it can get pretty wild!

The FUZZ mode: consists of two different models of classic germanium fuzz stomp boxes. Both are heavily modified for lower distortion levels
to be suited even for mastering duties. The FUZZ mode takes advantage of the unique properties of germanium transistors and delivers a
very warm, cosy sound.

THE DESK mode: Klanghelm's version of a flexible mixing desk channel strip plugin with just a few controls. faetures a sophisticated 2 band
EQ with special designed curves to fit most material. Furthermore it offers control over the transient response of the saturation and the
compression. The aim of the DESK mode is to be the only plugin needed for an at least OK recorded track to shine - all with very few controls.

What's New?

The ADA8200 builds on the proud legacy of our ADA8000, which is one of our all-time, best-selling products. Now, you’re probably thinking, “If they sell so many ADA8000s, then why are they changing them?” The short answer – we improved it, by upgrading to reference-class Cirrus Logic converters and MIDAS-designed Mic Preamps, making the ADA8200 the natural choice for musicians and audio engineers alike.

The Technical Stuff

Signal conversion in the ADA8200 takes place at either 44.1 or 48 kHz with 24-bit resolution. The ADAT inputs and outputs can be operated independently, as long as there is an identical wordclock signal. Frequency range is an ultra-wide 10 Hz - 24 kHz at a 48 kHz sampling rate.

Value

You can trust all your digital ones and zeros to the ADA8200, at an ultra-affordable price that will amaze you. Order online or stop by your authorized BEHRINGER dealer today and expand your digital arsenal.

Important Compatibility Information

There is a known issue with the ADAT interface implementation of the MOTU 2408 audio interface that makes it incompatible with the ADA8000/ADA8200 under certain operating conditions. Users are advised to avoid the following configuration:

  • The MOTU 2408 is connected to a MOTU PCI-424 card and operating in PCI Mode under computer control
  • The ADA8000/ADA8200 SYNC option is set to SLAVE and the clock input is being supplied from the MOTU 2408
  • The optical output from the ADA8000 ADAT interface is connected to an ADAT input on the MOTU 2408

Elysia: xfilter

The xfilter is a true linked stereo equalizer with the heart and soul of our flagship EQ, the museq. It gives you the expensive sound of an all class-A equalizer in a surprisingly affordable package, with a precise stereo image based on computer-selected, stepped pots and low tolerance film caps.

This EQ is serious about flexibility. It offers high and low shelf bands which can be switched into high and low cut filters with resonance, two mid peak filters with wide and narrow Q, plus additional passive LC stages with shielded coils for a glorious top end.

With its exceptionally open sound, straight transient projection and solid punch, the xfilter is the perfect match for your xpressor – or any other piece of delicious outboard gear!

  • 100% Class-A Topology - Expensive boutique sound made affordable.
  • True Stereo Operation - Two channels, just one set of controllers.
  • Resonance High & Low Pass Filters - Extremely useful secret weapons.
  • Additional Passive High-Band
 - Magic LC polish for opening up the top end.
  • Switchable Filter Quality
 - Wide and narrow Q for the parametric mids.
  • Special Low Tolerance Pots and Caps - Computer-selected for better stereo accuracy.
  • Stepped Controllers - Fast and easy recall guaranteed.
  • Made in Germany - Build quality without compromise.

100% Class-A Topology
Discrete input, output and mix stages plus the complete audio path running in constant class-A mode are the basis for an exceptionally transparent, wide and open sounding EQ.

True Stereo Operation
As one of the few exceptions in the market, the xfilter processes both of its channels with just one set of controllers – a true stereo linked EQ.

Resonance High & Low Cut Filters
The shelving filters can be switched into high and low cut filters with an additional resonance peak. Not ordinary, but extremely useful.

Switchable Filter Quality
The quality of the peak filters can be switched from a wide to a narrow Q factor which remains independent from the setting of the gain controller.

Additional Passive High-Band
The beautiful sheen only passive filters can deliver... the xfilter has it all. An additional LC filter with shielded coils gives you the 'Passive Massage'.

Stepped Controllers
All potentiometers on the xfilter have 41 steps, which is a great help for recalling your previous sessions fast and precisely.

Computer-Selected Potentiometers
Every single dual and quad layer pot we buy is measured with custom computer routines, and only the good ones go into production.

Special Low Tolerance Capacitors
The special series of film caps used for the xfilter performs twice as good as the industry standard in terms of component tolerance.

Ground Layer Shield
One of the four layers of both PCBs is a full copper plane which helps to reduce interferences caused by electric fields.

Technical Data

Waldorf: Pulse 2 Analog Synthesizer

NOW available!

Pulse 2 Analog Synthesizer is proof positive that good things can come to those that wait. For ever since this high-quality synthesizer developer discontinued its original rack-mountable Pulse and Pulse+ programmable analogue monosynths boasting ballsy bass tones and legendary leads beyond compare, those Nineties electronic musicdominating sounds have been severely sought after by those in the know. Which was exactly what drove us into development overdrive to produce an all-new Pulse fit for the 21st Century.

As an all-new, all-analogue synthesizer design, Pulse 2 flawlessly delivers exactly what synth connoisseurs around the world have been truly craving for quite some time — three analogue oscillators living in perfect harmony with a VCF (VoltageControlled Filter), yet we did not stop there: the fresh filter circuits in the Pulse 2 now offer 12dB Highpass and Bandpass modes in addition to 24dB/12dB Lowpass for strengthened sound-sculpting flexibility, while we added analogue Filter FM, two Overdrive circuits, and Ring Modulation from OSC 3, together with Paraphonic and Unison modes allowing up to eight-voice chords — a fantastic feature found on our recently-released Rocket Synthesizer.

Pulse 2 is housed in a sturdy metal desktop casing. Alongside its generous 128x64-character backlit LCD, eight eye-catching stainless steel knobs are available to nimbly navigate through the parameter matrix — logically laid out across the front panel for all to see at all times, set the master Volume, and easily edit display-accessible parameters.

Connectivity comes well catered for courtesy of USB, MIDI In, MIDI Out, Ext In (external analogue signal input), line OUT, and headphone output — not forgetting, of course, CV Out (supporting both the V/octave and Hz/V standards) and Gate Out (V-Trigger- and S-Trigger-compatible), allowing a myriad of suitably equipped older (or newer) synths to be connected to the Pulse 2 to mirror whatever MIDI ‘note’ information is being played by the Pulse 2, including the output of its powerful ARP (arpeggiator). And if that’s not enough to be getting on with, the CV Out can even be modulated in the eight-slot modulation Matrix, making for even more tantalising tone colours and performance possibilities!

Alongside analogue must-haves like a noise generator, Pulsewidth modulation, and hard Sync, other notable features include an Alternating Pulsewidth Modulation mode new to the Pulse 2 (offering a dense PWM sound without affecting perceived loudness), and an XOR Osc mode (that is a binary XOR combination of two PWM oscillators with two distinct output levels — high and low only — capable of producing inharmonic spectra unlike anything associated with any analogue synthesizer other than the original Pulse) — all of which, of course, contribute to kickstarting those still soughtafter sounds right here, right now in the 21st Century. Speaking of which, 500 onboard sound programs should be more than
enough to keep the most diehard synthesist smiling! What’s more, all are backwards-compatible with the original Pulseseries, so original Pulse owners can quickly transfer their favourite sounds to their new Pulse 2 via MIDI (dump).

Thanks, then, to the timely arrival of the Pulse 2 Analog Synthesizer, readily reincarnated ballsy bass tones and legendary leads beyond compare can all be yours with much more besides in a truly 21st Century compact and bijou performance package priced to go!

Producer Loops: Future Progressive House Vol 3

'Future Progressive House Vol 3' expands on this best-selling series from The Madison and Producer Loops, bringing you five incredibly polished and well-produced Construction Kits full of euphoric and uplifting chord progressions, catchy top lines and pounding drums.

The "Future Progressive House" series is back with five fully mixed and mastered Construction Kits, produced to the highest standards and ready to inspire you to create your next House hit.

You'll find everything from wobble basses and buzzing synth leads to lush pads, compressed pianos and dizzying arpeggios, all underpinned by powerful and solid drum beats. Add to this a selection of risers, uplifters and killer drops and you've got all the ingredients necessary to construct countless floor fillers.

The Madison boasts a distinctive production style, recognisable by his trademark delicate melodies, vocal glitches and unapologetic, cone-trembling basslines. By experimenting with state-of-the-art production techniques, while combining the genre's signature elements, he has created a versatile collection of Kits sure to become a staple in any dance producer's arsenal.

The possibilities don't just stop at House music. Mix and match these key/tempo tagged loops with any other Dance samples to create your own unique sound.

'Future Progressive House Vol 3' comes in multiple formats with some great features designed for the discerning producer. Read on to find out more.

MIDI Files Included:

Like so many other Producer Loops products, 'Future Progressive House Vol 3' includes MIDI files for the majority of musical phrases heard in each Kit, allowing you to seamlessly mix your favourite synths and samplers with the sounds contained in the pack.

Advantages of MIDI:

While the supplied ACID/Apple Loops/REX content is extremely flexible and powerful, MIDI has the added benefit of allowing you to go to extremes of pitch and tempo beyond which the loops were originally recorded, with no time stretching or pitch shifting artefacts. Furthermore, you can make tweaks to the riffs so they fit perfectly into your existing mixes.

Dry/Wet Loops:

For users looking to simply drag and drop, the 'wet' files contain all of the effects processing heard in the audio demos. But for producers looking to create their own effects mix, 'dry' loops are also included. Don't like the wet loops? No problem, add your own effects.

Royalty-Free:

All of the loops in this product are 100% Royalty-Free (including the vocal loops), so once purchased, you can use these loops in your commercial releases without having to pay any hidden costs.

About The Producer:

Hailing from the Ukraine, a country that continues to emerge with new production talents, Stanislav Nozdrachov or The Madison as you may know him, has leapt to fame, enjoying consistent Beatport Top 100 chart placements and recent success on labels such as Armada, Enhanced and Infrasonic. He has gone on to remix for high profile artists, such as Matt Darey, Tritonal, Susana, Ana Criado, Dennis Sheperd, and many more.

Product Specifications:

  • 5 Construction Kits
  • ACIDized WAV Files
  • Apple Loops/AIFF Files
  • REX2 Loops

Hornet: Sybilla

Say goodbye to sibilant sounds...

Sybilla is an intelligent de-esser designed with one purpose: reduce those sibilant in almost no time.

It works dividing the input signal in 6 different bands carefully tuned to the sibilant sound frequencies, the output of these filters drive a VCA modeled compressor that has a smooth and pleasant response. This coupled with envelope followers "perfect for speech" gives Sybilla a very musical sound but effective de-essing.

Simple but effective

Sybilla has just two knobs, since the frequency detection is done automatically to always catch the most critical part you only have to decide how much the de-esser should work on those frequencies and if you like some of the original signal mixed in.

That's it. Sybilla is easy and effective de-essing.

HoRNet Sybilla overview

Copy protection

The HoRNet Sybilla has no copy protection, I don't believe in copy protection, they are always cracked and they are annoying for the users, we all know you are not going to give away the plugin on the internet...

So simply download the plugin and enjoy your recordings!

Features

  • Automatic de-essing
  • Adjustable effect amount
  • 6 different detection filters

PrecisionSound: Mbira bva Zimbabwe for NI Kontakt & EXS24

The Mbira, shorthand for Mbira dzavadzimu or “voice of the ancestors”, is an instrument that has been played by the Shona people of Zimbabwe for thousands of years. It’s also the national instrument of Zimbabwe.

It is very significant in Shona religion and culture, and considered to be a sacred instrument. The Mbira is usually played to facilitate communication with ancestral spirits.

Our Mbira bva Zimbabwe is a twenty-two key version with added machachara—or “sizzler”, as we call it—to give a buzzing sound. The buzzing is traditionally important because it is believed to attract the ancestral spirits.
We have deconstructed the sizzler from the original tone, so that you can mix between the chromatic tone, the release noises, and the sizzler sound, all within the Kontakt interface. You can also adjust the sizzler’s decay independently, to find your perfect balance between the tone of the Mbira keys and the buzz of the sizzler.

We sampled the Mbira bva Zimbabwe library in two velocity layers, and recorded four round robins for each of the chromatic metal keys, sizzlers, and release samples. The instrument was close-miked in stereo, and the library contains 252 24-bit WAV samples. The key range of the Precisionsound Mbira bva Zimbabwe is from B1 to C5.

The Mbira bva Zimbabwe features:

  • 252 stereo 24-bit WAV samples
  • Chromatic metal key notes and release noises
  • Percussive “sizzler” samples from the Mbira body
  • 1 program for NI Kontakt 3-5 with scripted interface
  • 3 programs for NI Kontakt 2
  • 3 programs for Logic EXS24All formats are included when you buy “Mbira bva Zimbabwe” so you can download whatever format you like or all of them.

(Full version of Kontakt is required, this library does NOT work with the free Kontakt Player!)

DYNAMICS PROCESSOR WITH ATTITUDE

Introduced in 1971, the Omnipressor rack unit was widely used on hit records throughout the last four decades. One of our first customers was a young Brian May, lead guitarist of Queen. With the Omnipressor in his rig, his sound was never the same again.

A double-knee compressor/limiter, the Omnipressor has the unique ability of simultaneously compressing and expanding audio; it is capable of extreme compression, limiting, expanding, and dynamic reversal. Now, this software plug-in of the Omnipressor is available for the first time for Pro Tools AAX, VST for PC, and AU.

* You MUST have an iLok 2 to run this Plug-in.

Eventide: 2016 Stereo Room

THE LEGENDARY REVERB ALGORITHM OF EVENTIDE'S SP2016

Long used as an essential reverb for mixing hit records, the Eventide SP2016, while long discontinued, is still in use in places like Ocean Way. Now, the top favorite reverb algorithm from this sought after hardware box is now available for Pro Tools AAX, VST for PC, and AU.

Features

  • Natural and distinctive; unique sound
  • Simple, intuitive parametric controls
  • Complex early reflections
  • Smooth decay tail
  • Novel Position control for precise room placement
  • Decay control sets the reverb time
  • Predelay adds a delay before the reverb
  • Diffusion alters the character of the space
  • EQ block: corner frequency and gain controls
  • Input gain control for precise level matching
  • Kill button for quick effect audition

Creating a reverb algorithm is part art and part science.

The science bit is all about the naturalness of the sound - whether the simulation convincingly conveys the "feel" of a real room.

Some digital reverbs don't have the horsepower to run a sufficiently complex program to achieve "naturalness." Without enough processing power the effect will suffer from low echo density or unnatural density growth with time or comb filter effects, etc. As Einstein is alleged to have said "things should be as simple as possible, but no simpler." This principle certainly applies to reverb algorithms.

The art of reverb algorithm design begins with simulating a 'room' that actually sounds good. Needless to say, rooms exist in the real world that sound awful. The structure of the reverb algorithm combined with the choices of delay lengths, interconnects, filter placement, early reflections, etc. all contribute to the overall sound. The final element of the art of reverb design is the designer's choice of the ways in which, and the extent to which, the artist/engineer/producer is permitted to modify the effect. What are the parameters and what do they do?

The degrees of freedom available to the designer guaranty that no two (sufficiently complex) reverb algorithms will sound the same. Each will be unique. There are a number of popular digital reverberators for good reason. Each has a distinctive sound, each has a particular set of possibilities. The SP2016 reverbs have attracted a loyal user base because of a particular blend of art and science. They sound natural. They sound distinctive. And, although they allow the user to vary the effect dramatically, the controls can't be set in such a way as to create an unnatural sounding effect - this is a good thing.

The algorithms naturally simulate every aspect of the sound of a real enclosure - from the complex early reflections, to the natural way in which the echo density increases with time, to the smooth Gaussian decay of the reverb tail. A powerful simulation that lends itself to parametric control - a good thing indeed.

Rattly And Raw: Kontakt sample instruments

Dirty, cheap, cranky, crusty little gems to fill those cracks in your productions. These instruments are designed to be 'that little extra thing' that so many tracks end up needing.

In the real world, most of these instruments have maybe only a few playable notes or at best a limited range!
Rattly And Raw have greatly expanded the playability and range of these original instruments by using state of the art time stretching software and meticulously hand tuning each mechanism.

The emphasis here is on imperfection and character. These instruments are not posh, and not slick, but they might inspire new directions or augment what you already have in surprising ways. The unique sound of these samples comes from the instruments themselves, not from additional processing! That being said... on most instruments we've included a LoFi button and a processing knob or two that will let you dirt 'em up a little more...

The instruments in these packs were all sampled with combinations of Royer R122s, Neumann KM84i, Elux M49, C-Ducers, Reslo RBTs and all run into NEVE 33135s with carnhill xformers, some vintage APIs, Focusrite ISA 215 or a BUZZ ARC depending on what the instruments demanded. The Cold War Listening Station samples were recorded with a handheld audio recorder and worked on extensively in post-production due to the super-unfriendly recording conditions!

Most instruments are sampled with very little processing, and they are all at concert pitch (A440) but that's where the correctness ends, these are dirty little beasts and...well...rattly and raw... You'll find they are easy to slot in wherever you need!

We've recorded and programmed multiple round robins and velocity layers with most instruments to capture the character and feel of the instruments as closely as possible and tried to keep playability at the forefront at all times! If there are not multiple velocity layers or round robins, it's generally because we preferred the simpler sound this resulted in!

Most instruments (where appropriate) also have a keyswitch activated release note option which will play a different round robin note on the note off action of a keypress. This lets you play very realistic trills and adds a great deal more expressive potential to each instrument.

We have simple custom Kontakt scripts in many of our instruments. These range from simple LoFi processing scripts to a full velocity and volume management system. These have been written by the Rattly And Raw team and the fantastic Mathew Lane except the marxophone script which was written by the excellent Iain Morland.

Instruments with a long natural sustain (such as the zither-types) also have an additional instrument that maps the sustain to sustain pedal. Very handy for approaching these instruments in a completely different way!

Most of the instruments have quite a small range (usually around 2 octaves). This is always more than the physical instrument itself has, but any potential limitation you might perceive is compensated for by our ridiculously cheap pricing!!

These are all fantastically playable instruments and we hope you'll get endless use out of them!

RME: MADIface USB

Overview

Connectivity

  • Record/Playback channels: 64 in / 64 out
  • 2 x MADI I/O (optical and coaxial)
  • TotalMix
  • No external power supply required
  • Stand-alone mode operation
  • Seamless Redundancy Operation

MADI portability at its best!

The compact MADIface USB provides MADI I/O over USB 2.0 while supporting the format's full 64 channels for recording and playback, under Mac and Windows. Both inputs can be used for full redundancy operation. Optionally both MADI I/Os can be operated simultaneously for full 128 channel input and output access, mixed and routed by TotalMix. Even without computer the small box delivers extraordinary bi-directional format converter and active repeater functionality.

Its sturdy and bus-powered design makes it as easy to use as reliable in operation. MADIface USB is both MADI portability at its best as also a perfect desktop solution to connect MADI equipment to any Mac and PC. A real gem in flexibility, usefullness and trouble-free operation - as you expect it from RME.

Features and Operation Modes

MADIface USB offers several operation modes when used with a Mac or Windows computer: 64 Channel Mix, Redundancy mode, 128 Channel Mix and a straight routing mode.

The option Disable TotalMix completely disables TotalMix, the unit's flexible internal mixer and routing matrix. All input and output data is going straight to record/coming from playback, with no mixing or routing involved. In this mode the outputs are mirrored, carrying the same signal.

In 64 Channel Mix mode TotalMix shows 64 input, playback and output channels. All settings in TotalMix use the data from one MADI input port, and send identical data to both MADI output ports. The currently active MADI input port can be configured in the Settings dialog.

The option AutoSelect activates an automatic input selection. Using both inputs at the same time, AutoSelect puts the device into Seamless Redundancy mode. The MADIface USB will switch to the other input in real-time if the current one fails.

In 128 Channel Mix mode record and playback is still limited to 64 channels, with the current input selected in the Settings dialog. But the other input is also available through TotalMix, and the output signal is not mirrored, but separated, with TotalMix having 128 output channels. Applications like independent mix output, monitoring and serial pass-through of the second source are just a few clicks away.

SteadyClock as well as RME's well known MADI compatibility ensure hassle-free operation with other devices. MIDI over MADItechnology may be used to remote-control other MADI devices. DIGICheck, an included complete audio analyzing suite, supports the user under Mac OS X and Windows.

TotalMix

Like all the latest RME interfaces, the MADIface USB also includes the powerful digital real-time mixer TotalMix FX. It allows for practically unlimited mixing and routing operations, with all inputs and playback channels simultaneously, to any hardware outputs. The MADIface does not have a DSP, so there are no FX available. Still it includes a dedicated Control Room section with Talkback, Main/Phones, fader groups, mute groups, complete remote controllability via Mackie or OSC protocol, and much more.

Here are some typical applications for TotalMix:

  • Setting up delay-free submixes (headphone mixes). The MADIface allows for up to 32 fully independent stereo submixes. On an analog mixing desk, this would equal 64 Aux sends.
  • Unlimited routing of inputs and outputs (free utilisation, patchbay functionality).
  • Distributing signals to several outputs at a time. TotalMix offers state-of-the-art splitter and distributor functions.
  • Simultaneous playback of different programs via a single stereo output. The ASIO multiclient driver supports the usage of several programs at the same time. When done on different playback channels TotalMix provides the means to mix and monitor these on a single stereo output.
  • Mixing of the input signal to the playback signal (complete ASIO Direct Monitoring). RME not only is the pioneer of ADM, but also offers the most complete implementation of the ADM functions.
  • Integration of external devices. Use TotalMix to insert external effects devices, be it in the playback or in the record path. Depending on the current application, the functionality equals insert or effects send and effects return, for example as used during real-time monitoring when adding some reverb to the vocals.

Every single input channel, playback channel and hardware output features a Peak and RMS level meter, calculated in hardware. These level displays are very useful to determine the presence and routing destinations of the audio signals.

Stand-alone Operation

For stand-alone operation the MADIface USB can be powered by any USB power wall wart or USB battery, like those for mobile phones and MP3 players. Without a computer host the device enters a pre-configured mode. Using one input the MADIface USB is clock slave, using the sample rate found at the input. AutoSelect is active, so either input can be used. The input's audio data is transferred to the outputs unchanged. The output format follows the input format (56/64 channel mode, 48k/96k Frame). Using two inputs Double Processing Mode becomes active, for two independent paths, including two SteadyClocks. The internal routing changes from parallel output to cross-coupled.

Therefore in stand-alone mode the unit automatically operates as active repeater, effectively doubling the maximum cable length of 100 m coaxial and 2,000 m optical. With two inputs connected the unit works as bi-directional format converter, converting coaxial to optical and vice versa simultaneously. This is even possible when the connected device uses sample rate converters for independent clocking - the sample rate can be different in both paths.

Thanks to a completely newly generated signal, jitter suppression by SteadyClock, and reclocking of the MADI output, the MADIface USB provides not simple but sophisticated format conversion.
